Dear OSSD Community,

We hope that your spring vacation is going well.  We wanted to share more good news about the Orange Southwest School District.  A short while ago, our High School joined our middle school and Braintree Elementary by being recognized in the national rankings.  RUHS (grades 9-12) is ranked as the 13th highest performing high school in the state of Vermont.  We are also ranked above 77% of the approximately 23,500 public high schools in the United States.

I want to personally thank our leadership team and all the staff that have contributed their hard work to making this possible for our students.

“Randolph Union High School earned high National and metro-area rankings in 2024 Best High Schools, which U.S. News released yesterday. Here is your school’s updated U.S. News profile page, with details about its rankings: https://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/vermont/districts/orange-southwest-unified-school-district/randolph-union-high-school-201657.”

Most Sincerely,

Layne W. Millington

OSSD Superintendent

News from around the Elementary Schools

Here is some of what is happening at the Elementary Schools throughout the district:

Build the Change Logo

We are excited to announce that Brookfield Elementary is part of the 2024-2025 Build the Change Showcase Schools program!

Build the Change is all about giving children a voice and allowing them to express their hopes and ideas for a better future.

Children use their creativity to solve real-world challenges with LEGO® bricks and other creative materials – and it is all achieved via learning through play.

This is a program created through a partnership with LEGO® and Take Action Global.

Take Action Global

At Braintree Elementary, students enjoy a place-based learning environment that encourages an appreciation of the natural world and its inhabitants. This mission is supported by several partnerships and opportunities.

Randolph Elementary Asia Night

What an amazing night at RES for our students and families! Our 3rd and 4th graders have been exploring Asia, each class focusing on a specific country. This evening featured artwork, food and cultures from these various Asian countries. The students also presented a dance from Japan. The evening finished up with our students parading out with a Chinese Dragon! Enjoy the pictures and videos below.
